Kaidan and Liara jealousy by PureLightHealer Kaidan and Liara jealousy by PureLightHealer
Maybe I just look into things too much, bit I alwaysss catch Kaidan and Liara giving eachother these miffed looks as if to say "bitch, she's mine", in the middle of cutscenes! Like I'll be talking innocently to some third-party character, and I'll catch Liara giving Kaidan this "blerghh" look behind my back or vice-versa.

It always cracks me up XD

But this scene is actually totally on purpose, since I accidentally *spoilers* let Liara on unwittingly ALONG with Kaidan who I was actually trying to get.

Needless to say, "things" went downnnn. :P

b/w Ashley and Liara, right? XD I think Ashley's even harsher than Kaidan, so I imagine it'd be pretty intimidating.

Not what I meant what I was trying to say is when you reach the stand off on the Citadel I never killed either of them even if they were protecting Udina from Shepard which in my opinion was really a bad idea

As a gay woman. I always go for Liara. Ashley is a bit too hard headed and set in her ways for my liking. Both in real life and as Commander Shepard, I need someone who is flexible. Partly because as Commander Shepard you have to do things that not many people would agree with. Thats why I love Liara. She supports Shepard for what should be done to right wrongs. Even if it means committing a minor wrong that would normally ruffle Kaidan's or Ashley's feathers.

Yeah. I understand where you're coming from, and I loveeeee Liara for that as well. Also, she's a total cutie, let's be real :3

But at the same time, I have a certain respect for people who have their ideals and their own perspectives and are headstrong and determined and won't give up on those, even for a superior, or an ex-lover, or w/e. There's something admirable about that. It's like taking the hard route and sometimes alienating yourself from people that you may even love; for the sake of your morals. I mean I don't think everythingggg is a matter of unshakeable morality or whatever, but I certainly don't blame them for not joining me on Horizon.

I like them. All of them, for different reasons. Ashley, Liara, Kaidan. I feel like they're very "real", in a sense, very "human". Each has some qualities I respect and admire, and some faults at the same time. I may not always agree with them, but then that's how I am with my friends in real life too. I may not agree with them, but I respect the hell out of them ;)

Thank you for your insightful comment!

Now that I can respect. As the old saying goes, it would be boring if we were all the same. I think my irritation with Ashley and Kaidan is that as much as they are trying to do the right thing Shepard is also trying to do the right thing. By going after the Reapers. Even if that means temporarily siding with a dodgy maybe even evil organization. I also get the feeling that they blame Shepard a bit. The blaming I can see, I mean Shepard did die then come back over two years. I'd be sore too about losing my Commander (especially one as awesome as Shepard) only to have her come back after two years, that would hurt. But, I draw the line at them being angry with Shepard for joining Cerberus, if it were me, I'd join Shepard's team on the understanding that being with Cerberus is temporary.

Besides, The Alliance and the human ambassadors are missing out on a great infiltration/spy opportunity with having Shepard in Cerberus' ranks. Imagine the intel they could gather to bring down Cerberus. Actually if I were Shepard, that is what I'd tell Ashley and Kaidan, that I am not only back to stop the Reapers, but to find intel to bring down Cerberus. Thats upon thinking about ME1.

Sincerely, Kat.

I don't know... The way I see it, it's like finding a real analogy - say for example Shepard had joined the Nazis. Okay, maybe not that extreme, but still, an organization (sort of) that committed many atrocities. Even if Shepard was telling me that it was temporary and for the greater good and blablabla, I'm not sure I'd exactly jump to join him/her, irrespective of my personal feelings for him/her. Especially if it was a really big deal to me and I really felt myself to be against such an organization. Would I believe their claim in the greater good simply because my best friend/lover joined? Honestly, maybe not.

Plus, It's not like Kaidan or Ashley got really insulting or personally petty on Horizon either. They were simply steadfast in their own beliefs, voiced some of their doubts/concerns and wished Shepard the best of luck in his/her endeavour, and that they hoped it really was for the better.

Trust me, I was practically bawling at my screen when Kaidan popped up only to tell me he wouldn't join me. I was like "nooooooooo whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" and considering him and Ashley were my two favourite teammates, it really made the rest of ME2 look somewhat bleak for my tastes. But no matter my personal feelings, I still felt I could respect them for standing up for what THEY believed in. Because that's what matters at the end of the day; don't just side with your friends because they believe in something and you "hope" it isn't misled - but truly stand up for what you find to be morally right. Even if that means ending up a little lonelier. Maybe I admire that because, I think it isn't an easy thing to do, and like the rest of the teammates from ME1 (Tali, Garrus, etc,.) I would feel ridiculously tempted to sort of push my concerns to the side and just trust my friend/lover/etc if for no other reason but for the fact that they were so important in my life. It's such a temptation! So I respect those who are able to stand up in the face of temptation and still follow their moral compass. Even if it gets them hated, which clearly, in the fandom, it kind of did. :/

what do you see in this guy cause all I see is a coward him and Ashley romanced or not they turn there backs on Shepard in ME2 while Garrus and Tali joined Shepard without being all crazy about Cerberus even when Tali said she that hated Cerberus that did not stop her from helping Shepard as for Garrus he had the very same concerns but that didn't stop him from helping andwhat was that line Ashley said about them not staying allies well apparently there better allies than Kaidan and Ashley

I respectfully disagree. I hear Ashley and Kaidan getting a lot of flack for "not joining you" in ME2, but frankly, i think that's letting our egos get the better of us.

Why should they join?

I don't want either teammates (or in real life - friends) who simply nod and do everything I say without question. If my being with Cerberus went against their own moral compass, I really really respect that they chose not to be on the team. I wanted them on the team, they were my favourite teammates, and yes I understand how it's hurtful and whatnot. But someone who can put their own moral compass and beliefs over subjective personal feelings (of friendship or love or w/e) is admirable in my books. Because it wouldn't have been an easy choice for them to make either. It's not about a lack of trust, it's about morality. And they upheld theirs.

I don't want a friend who joins me if i join a questionable cause, simply because we used to be friends or lovers or whatnot. I have much more respect for someone who has unshakable beliefs. And will not cast those aside, no matter how tempting the offer, or who's offering it.

I think a lot of gamers treat these characters like they just have to do anything the gamer wants/anything Shepard commands. And if they happen to disagree with Shepard then they're "bitches" or "back-stabbers" or whatever. I don't think that's how it works in real life. The world doesn't revolve around us or around Shepard. People should be allowed to disagree, even if they are friends.

I just replayed ME1 and...yeah, I totally laughed at these little looks as well. Probably coincidental, but I'm SO RP-ing it as them being jealous. Liara, you're my best friend (after Jack, hah!), but Kaidan's my maaaaaaan.

Also, Garrus and Kaidan in ME3. Cracks me up to no end when I drag them around and they glare at each other.

First off, you'll have had to complete everyone's loyalty mission successfully. And they'll all have to be loyal to you in order to survive, I believe.

Also, you have to do everyone's loyalty mission before the IFF/Reaper mission. Because after the Normandy is attacked, you only get to do one last loyalty mission, and this should be Legion's loyalty mission. Do any more, and people will die.

Then, have a either Legion or Tali enter the ducts (tech skills). Have either Miranda, Jacob or Garrus lead the fire teams (leadership skills).  Either Jack or Samara to keep the biotic barrier up (strongest biotics). And I don't think it matters who you get to escort the trapped people back to the Normandy, though I used Mordin.

Haha, they totally open up if you do the work and talk to them :) They don't make it easy, but that's realistic. I sure as hell wouldn't just chat up a storm because my commander started asking. I think the payoff is satisfying though. Because they're so unshakeable in their morality and in their life values, it makes them really trustworthy companions to me. I mean in the game, they can be "made" trustworthy in the storyline obviously, but I mean if it was real, I would trust them much more because of their strong characters, than I would anyone else on the ship who just mindlessly follows my lead or does it because of their feelings rather than their beliefs.

Okay the only reason I don't like these to is their questions about Cerberus and Shepard working for them at the time like they give damn about Shepard For all I know you could there puppet controlled by the Illusive Man himself really Kaidan really I think that L2 implant has fried his brain and then theirs Ashely Is really you in there would you even know if they were controlling you somehow and I romanced her in the first game what was I thinking the thinking  if they really cared about Shepard they would not have turn there backs on him/her you turn tail on me in ME2 and think I am going to let you back aboard The Normandy get the hell out of here

That's not true. A lot of people say that, that they got angry at Kaidan and Ashley for "not following Shepard in ME2". I completely disagree. Shepard died and was brought back and affiliated with a rogue group fo very questionably tactics and with a fairly lucrative past (re: the experiments they did on Jack is just one of the examples). Kaidan and Ashley are morally against that group. Shepard may claim that he/she does whatever he/she wants and that he/she is only using Cerberus for the ship/team, etc,. but at the end of the day, Shepard IS affiliated with Cerberus. Whether of his/her own will or not. Any decent human being with a strong moral compass would STICK to those ideals and values. Kaidan and Ashley loved and respected Shepard. They didn't simply turn their backs out of boredom or in betrayal. They took the HARD decision, to stand their own moral ground, even when it meant distancing themselves from a loved one.

I respect that. The easy way out, is to run to your friend, even if he/she is involved in sketchy business and to just turn a blind eye to that business. The hard decision, the difficult call to make, is to resist that temptation and STILL put your morals and life-values above your feelings.

That's what Kaidan and Ashley did. And you know what? I may not have liked it as Shepard, but I respect their decision and their ability to hold their moral compass at true North, and not cave simply because "a friend asked them to". To me, that is the mark of a true soldier, and a worthy S.P.E.C.T.R.E.

I just talked to everyone!!! Once Kaidan was like "What's up with you and Liara?" I automatically went "What?!?! I was flirting with her!? I was just talking to her casually!!" And so I stopped talking to her for the rest of the game. Quite awkward. xD

LOL It's clearly just for the fans. Kaidan was straight. But I bet under fan-pressure and for the sake of ''being able to have relationships with everyone'' (as is the case in Dragon Age), they decided to change it. I think it's cheesy. Some characters should have a defined sexuality and i don't think everyone should be conveniently bisexual.

But i guess it doesn't really matter to me since I don't have to play a version where Kaidan is gay if I choose not to. He's straight in my game; as he was in the first one for everyone.

See, I disagree... Though I was hurt that they didn't take my side, I respect them for standing true to their ideals. A lot of people would cave because "my boyfriend is part of a renegade group i don't approve of"... For them to FEEL that love for Shepard, and still be strong enough and moral enough to stick by their values says a lot about their characters.

I respect people like that more than those who cave because it's easier, because they have feelings, etc,. Morals should be an unshakeable thing.

I see how you consider it, and I guess it's a matter of opinion :p

It's not about trust. They could trust Shepard had good reasons, but they simply want to stick to their own morals. What's wrong with that? Romancing someone doesn't mean losing your own ideals. They romanced Shepard under certain assumptions; one of them being that Shepard wouldn't join an organization like that. Shepard did, (partially out of desperation, let's be honest and because he/she had very little choice) and that was a deal breaker for them. I respect that they stick to their ideals even when tempted to give in. That shows strength of character; that you won't sacrifice your morals even under temptation, no matter what. That, for me, is the bottom line.
